3. They spend a lot of time on social media

If your partner has always been kind of detached from their phone and their social media, a sudden change could be a warning sign. They are still glued to their screen, posting, texting. This can be fine as long as they can explain why they are suddenly interested in social media. However, if they can’t provide you with an explanation, and they seem jittery while you are around, you might be dealing with a cheating partner – even if it’s emotional cheating.

4. They won’t let you anywhere near their phone

You notice that your partner is spending a lot more time on their phone, and this alone can arouse suspicion. But if you try to get closer while texting and move away, or if you pick up their phone and get all protective, you can almost be sure something is going on. While nothing gives you the right to invade their privacy, you also need to protect yourself from any warning signs. Pay attention. Did they change their phone password? Are they extra protective of their device for no apparent reason? Talk to them and try to figure it out.

5. They seem to be working a lot

While the “I need to work” excuse is kind of a movie cliché, the truth is people use it in real life. It’s hard to tell if they are actually working or having an affair. Figuring out if it’s an emotional affair or a sexual one is even harder. If your partner usually comes home on time and now they are making excuses to get home late, confront them. It’s weird, especially if they haven’t been promoted or there haven’t been any changes regarding their job.

For your relationship to work well, both of you must learn how to communicate your feelings. Creating an emotional bond with someone takes time. But if you are in a committed relationship, that bond should be quite strong, and the two of you should be pretty close. However, your partner seems to be distant lately. You don’t sit together at the end of a long day to tell each other how your day went. They don’t come running to share the good news with you. You don’t seem to share anything anymore. But why?
