4. They seem agitated when you two are alone
If you start noticing behavior changes when you two are enjoying each other’s company, this might be a sign they are hiding something.
Carrying the weight of a secret can make your partner feel restless, tense, or even disconnected when you two are together.
However, this can also be the sign of something else – something might be upsetting them, and they don’t feel at ease to tell you about it, in which case you should consider if there is a lack of communication in your relationship.
5. They show signs of distress around you
If you are in a long-term relationship, you probably recognize all the telltale signs that your partner is keeping something from you. But if you have just started dating someone, there are some things you should be paying attention to.
For example, if you are in the middle of an argument and your partner turns the other way, this might be a mechanism to keep you from reading their facial expressions. Also, look at what they are doing with their hands – are their hands moving a lot?
Are they trying to keep their hands out of sight? Hand reflexes are a way of coping with stress and anxiety, which are feelings that tend to surface with guilt
6. They avoid facial expressions
If you read about how to communicate better in a relationship, every article will tell you not to hold back on how you are feeling.
However, if your partner is trying to hide a secret from you, they will do whatever they can to not give the secret away. If you notice that they are making an effort to keep a straight face at all times, this might mean they have something they don’t want you to know.
7. They blink way too much
This is an involuntary behavior that might take place if someone is lying. Like we have said before, lying can be quite stressful, and your partner’s brain might “force” them to blink as a sign of stress. Ask yourself, is this a usual behavior coming from them?
