#5 – Commit to forgiveness

The benefits of forgiveness will start appearing when you start committing to the forgiveness, and the definition of forgiveness is to simply understand how to be good to someone who wasn’t good to you.

Let’s be honest, when you were angry at that person, did you notice how unhappy you were?

Also, the commitment to forgiveness means not doing any harm to that person, but it doesn’t also mean do good to them. In general, just avoid doing anything negative.

#6 – Consider their wounds

This might be hard at first, but when you decide to forgive someone, you should start feeling compassion towards them.

You should start thinking of them from a different angle and consider how they were hurt in life, how they have been treated, and if their wounds lead them to wound you, etc.

You are not creating excuses for their horrible actions, but you are trying to see a vulnerable person, a confused person, and a scared person.

You are a human that was born to learn many things, and one of the noblest things to learn is seeing through others’ shields that they use to cover their bleeding hearts. You will realize that they are hurt as much as you, covered with scars, and incapable to even forgive themselves… So be better, forgive and forget!

#7 – Feel a softening

This is not a simple thing to do, it could take from weeks to months, but you will definitely start feeling a change within your heart. As soon as your feelings toward that person change, the unhealthy anger will start to fade away.

The difference will occur when your heart starts glowing with a tiny glimmering of compassion, understanding the reasons they have done that, and realizing that their action was only a reflection of their state of being.

#8 – Handle the pain

As soon as your heart starts softening, the pain will become acceptable because, of course, you can’t just get rid of the pain. In fact, you should not try to get rid of it, but you should learn how to bear it.
