#3 – Avoiding confrontation

Sometimes a heated argument between you and your partner strips you both from any rational thoughts and exposes your bare, honest emotions. Then, emotions run high and logic has no place, which may push you to let some hurtful comment slip out.

When you get overwhelmed and know that you’re getting nowhere with your argument, it’s only natural that your instincts will tell you to run away.

This is believed to be a toxic move when, in truth, it allows you to take a breath of air and come back calmer, more rational, and ready to discuss the problem and solve it together as a team.

As long as confrontation is productive, respectful, and rational you have nothing to worry about. But once you start throwing insults at each other or bringing up insecurities and weaknesses, your relationship is doomed to a downward spiral.

#4 – Establishing boundaries

Don’t be mistaken, setting boundaries in your romantic relationship won’t restrict it or make it less spontaneous, they will make it healthy.

Boundaries are neccessary in every relationship because they clear up any ambiguities between you and your partner and promote respect.

When you define your boundaries, you show your partner how you want to be treated and what line they shouldn’t cross. After all, respect is the pillar of any relationship and without it, everything else, including love or romance, is pointless.

You can have spontaneity and intimacy in your relationship while maintaining boundaries and respect.

It is in our human nature to feel attracted to the things we find beautiful or aesthetically pleasing, and that doesn’t exclude people.
