Relationships are hard work. Even if you end up finding your true love or soulmate, you’ll still face some issues and your relationship’s strength will always be tested through the time. This is why a lot of couples seek help and marriage counseling after a long-lasting relationship.  The truth is, with time, attraction tends to fade away and problems seem to arise. However, there are simple behaviors and attitudes that you can include to your everyday life to maintain a healthy happy marriage with your loved one. So without any further ado, let’s hop right into it for you to find out how to make your relationship last long without even talking about it with your spouse.

1. Hug your partner at least six times per day

It might sound weird to have a specific number for how many hugs you should give to your partner, but just consider the number 6 to be the minimum number of hugs you must give. And if you want to hug them 30 or 55 times, then that’s even better!  The thing with hugs is that it allows you to show that you are focusing on your partner, which means they can’t be short hugs. You should at least aim for a 6-second hug, some even say 20 seconds, but if you’re a busy person, let’s aim for 6 seconds first.  Hugging is a great way of showing your partner affection, and you don’t need a reason to do so. A hug increases oxytocin and serotonin, improves your and your partner’s mood, as well as it lowers blood pressure and stress while boosting immune function. All of that from a simple hug!

2. Focus on your partner four times every day

Something that cracks most marriages is the lack of communication.  Many couples tend to lose focus on each other. They no longer care or talk about how each other’s day went; they don’t share experiences or laugh together. It’s like they enter an automatic marriage relationship where love is nowhere to be found.  If you somehow relate to this, then it’s time to change!  Having open communication with your partner is key to a healthy relationship.  Make an effort and try to talk to your partner about their day, how they feel, or even cook their favorite meal. This will not only make your partner realize you care about them, but it will also make you feel closer to them. Of course, if your partner truly loves you, they will find a way to show you they care about you as well. Here are some things you can do: -In the morning, wake up a few minutes earlier and cook a big breakfast, and don’t forget to kiss them goodbye before leaving for work (even if they are still asleep, it still counts!)  -During lunchtime, give them a call or send them a cute text or video.  -After you leave work, pick them up on the way home with some coffee, or surprise them with movie tickets or a relaxing massage. -By the end of the night, cuddle together, watch your favorite series, play a game, or work on a project together, like building a new piece of furniture. These are little things that can change your whole mood about the relationship. Remember that your spouse should also be your friend, whom you want to have fun with!
