You might have heard somewhere that “love is not enough to make a relationship last.” It’s fair enough to believe that since love is not the only element that makes a healthy relationship; as relationship problems are common you will need trust, respect, good communication, support, and compromise. But guess what allows all of these elements to co-exist or last: Love and efforts. When you and your partner love each other to pieces, you have this strength within you that makes you fight for your relationship. It makes you both stronger and closer. Now, what if you often end up fighting about the smallest things, ignoring each other for days, and experiencing feelings of resentment? Do you recognize the problem, or do you just blame your partner for everything? Look deeper into yourself. You might be the problem. If you’re not sure, here are the signs you’re the problem in your relationship.

1. You’re not putting in enough effort

You won your partner’s heart, and they won yours. What more would your relationship need? Well, that kind of thinking is really faulty! It’s so easy to fall into that blissful comfort zone in your relationship where you forget about the little things that used to count. These things may have included sending a supportive message when your partner is having a bad day or giving your partner an unexpected hug for some energy, etc. But don’t fall into that trap. Ask yourself: “Am I putting in efforts? Am I supportive enough? Am I truly listening to my partner’s concerns and trying to do my part in cheering them up or showing them that you’re there for them?” If your answer is “yes” to all of the questions, then don’t beat yourself up. If it’s a “no,” then it’s time to take action and support your partner like they support you.

2. You’re being too clingy

We all love to shower our partners with affection and care. That doesn’t mean suffocating them and not leaving them some space to enjoy their individuality. If your partner enjoys their alone time, it’s better if you respect that. If your partner wants to go out with friends or indulge in a hobby, don’t be a toxic partner, support them instead there are many ways to show respect to your partner. It’s also about time you started enjoying your own time alone! Indulge in your own upbeat activities and catch up with your old friends. That’s the way to a healthy relationship and a healthy you.
