1. The tone of their voice changes
If you are in a committed relationship, you probably know your partner very well at this point, which means you will notice if their tone changes.
This is a natural reaction when someone gets nervous – their voice might become high pitched, or they might even feel the need to clear their throat before continuing the conversation.
2. They avoid making eye contact
If you have been dating someone for a while, you are well aware of how to communicate in a relationship– direct and open communication is the key.
If you or your partner have nothing to hide, you won’t have any problem looking at each other in the eye.
However, if they seem to avoid eye contact when you confront them about something that is bothering you, this might be a sign they are hiding something. The eyes are, indeed, the window of the soul, and they can transmit a lot of emotions, which is why looking away might be a bad sign.
3. They provide vague answers to your question
If you ask your partner about something and all they give you is a vague and generic answer, this might be a sign they are keeping something from you.
Another thing they can do to try and shift your attention is to answer your question with another question so they can gain themselves some extra time to come up with a lie. If this is something that happens continuously, you might be taking part in a toxic relationship and not even realizing it.
