9 Reasons Why You Can’t Stop Thinking About Him

7. You’re Feeling Lonely

Loneliness can make a person do things they never imagined doing. From hooking up with random people on the street to texting their ex-boyfriend in the middle of the night. Are any of these behaviors healthy? No. But do you really know why? It’s because the fear of loneliness shouldn’t be a factor when making decisions. When you’re lonely, you feel weak, unloved, sad, frustrated, and all you want is affection, attention, or just to feel wanted. So what do you do? You go back into your old thoughts, your latest memories of love and affection, and you keep them in your head so you can feel a little less lonely. But at the end of the day, you are still alone. So thinking about them will only make it worse.

8. They’re Mysterious

“I can’t stop thinking about him… he’s so.. mysterious”. We bet you have heard or said this sentence before. After all, the mystery is what keeps people interested. So if this person was someone that you still haven’t quite figured out, it’s very likely you still think about them because you’re still curious and eager to know more about them. As humans, we want everything on the table. We want to decipher enigmas and be able to say, “I cracked that.” But just know that there are only two possible endings. You either figure them out and feel disappointed or, you will never be able to understand them and get to know them, which will only lead to more frustration and an endless circle of chasing the impossible. You should know that at the end of the day, if the only thing pulling you towards this person is a mystery, then that’s a sign they don’t have much more to them. And this mystery can also be found elsewhere.

9. You Didn’t Have Closure

People are quicker to move on from past relationships when they break up on good terms. Whenever this doesn’t happen, like in abrupt endings, it’s very likely the frustration lasts for a while. The greatest care should be to transform the bad feelings that come into actions that objectively solve your problems. This is happening because, in your mind, things didn’t end as they should. There was no closure. Bad things were said, you broke over text, there was no explanation, and so on… There are many reasons as to why you could feel unresolved. And that’s why you dwell on it sometimes. The key here is forgiving not only the other person but yourself. As humans, we are not perfect, and it might take time, but you have to understand that whatever happened is already in the past, and there’s nothing you can do about it. So forgive and let go. Now that you understand why you’re still thinking about them, it’s important to take some time and think about what can be done about it. So how to get over someone? From getting to know yourself through new hobbies and self-care, getting to know new people, developing a new skill, talking to a therapist, or even making a to-do list for all the things you want to accomplish. Keep in mind that, at this very moment, the only relationship goals you should be focusing on is the relationship you have with yourself.
