© pexels Being in a serious relationship is not always easy. As time goes by, lovers are constantly being put to the test, and many difficulties may emerge. It’s part of the journey. But as they say, it is during difficult times that people reveal their true selves. And it takes a lot of effort, love, and care to maintain a successful long-term relationship. If you feel that the course of time has turned all your relationships into toxic relationships, maybe it’s time to stop for a while and think about it. What structural problems are you encountering in your love life? Are there some common issues that led you to end your past serious relationships? What caused them? Sometimes this self-analysis can give you valuable insights. What if, after all, you are the toxic person in your relationships? Here are some signs you are a bad partner (without realizing it)!

1. You have communication issues

Unhealthy communication can assume many different forms. It could be anything from hiding your feelings about a certain attitude or situation, to constantly criticizing your partner for minor things and certain unimportant behaviors, or ignoring the other person’s opinion and emotional state. You should be vocal about things that upset you, but you must also be very careful when exposing your feelings so that the other party doesn’t feel attacked. Being a good and comprehensive listener is also essential. That balance is not easy to achieve; that’s why people need to know each other deeply before jumping into a relationship. Communication truly is the key to a successful relationship. The sooner you identify and start working on your communication problems, the better.

2. You Have Self-Esteem Issues

Self-esteem is a highly complex concept that is very difficult to manage. Furthermore, both low self-esteem and high self-esteem can hurt your relationship in several ways. Curiously, sometimes low self-esteem can be the main reason behind the lack of communication and other issues. Individuals with low self-esteem are more likely to avoid behaviors and conversations that they expect to generate rejection from their partner. Talking about feelings is a great example. If you are always self-doubting, ask your partner for support. Similarly, people who are full of themselves tend to ignore other people’s feelings and make every situation about themselves. That can wear out a relationship pretty quickly. Try to put yourself in your partner’s shoes to understand how you can make them happy.
