This term dates back to Jazz age, say in the 1920s and was used as a synonym to ‘’excellent’’ and has gained widespread popularity during the 1960s and 70s. However, by 1980s, the word became really an old fashion and people stopped using it. Using this word today will make you sound anything but hip! So, yes make sure you choose your words wisely!

  1. Tell Bruce Campbell or any fans of Ash vs Evil Dead that Groovy is out of fashion and they’ll tell you you’re an idiot.

  2. Most of these words went out of date 50 years ago. But I did recently use the word “whippersnapper”. I tied up my wife and took a riding crop. I said I was gonna whip ‘er snapper!

  3. I didn’t use the word “groovy” even when it was groovy to say it. I thought it sounded stupid then until you were talking about records. Back then, all records were groovy.
