If your ex suggests that you stay friends so you won’t lose each other completely and you agreed without allowing yourself time to see if that’s what you really want and that you’re ready to make this switch, you may end up hanging out with both your new love and your ex even if you don’t want to just because now, you’re “just” friends.

If being friends with your ex will give you a hard time to move on healthily, you shouldn’t agree in the first place, especially if you agree just to look cool or make your ex believe that you’re not so into him or her. Also, you will never be ready for a new relationship until you get a real and healthy closure with your previous one.

If you feel like ex-love is haunting you, it’s probably because you keep talking about him or her. By talking, we also mean reminiscing, complaining, blaming, cursing, and so on.
