From the mouth of the great Abraham Lincoln, we learned that “Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.”
So, before you start defending your own heart with words like ‘I am still in the path of seeking happiness’ or ‘I didn’t find [blank] yet to be happy’, you should understand that happiness is something that comes from within, and not from other people, things, or events.
Happy people tend to do many things that others don’t seem to understand, or in other words, they do things that seem a little “too much” for them.
The thing is, you can be happy if you want to, and by being engaged in a few activities (that include only you, without others), you will slowly feel the flower of happiness blossoming within your heart.
So just like any other flower, you need to water it daily in order to keep it alive while helping it grow bigger and stronger, which is something that can’t be done if you kept doing a few things that sabotage you and your own emotional state.
