4. Rubbing your neck

Sure, you could be having neck pain or neck muscle tension and rub your neck to relieve it. But, if you have the habit of touching your nape with your hands whenever you’re speaking to someone, it reveals your anxiety and shows that you’re insecure or uncomfortable.

Much like biting your nails, this habit is not a pleasant one and definitely won’t help you look confident or comfortable in situations where you want to be. Try to keep your hands in front of you and use hand gestures when speaking instead of rubbing your neck or face, or pulling your sleeves over your hands.

3. Not making enough eye contact

Eye contact is an important part of communication and personal or business relationships. Avoiding eye contact won’t only show that you lack confidence in yourself but also cause you to miss out on the messages that people are sending you.

Your eye contact sends different messages during a conversation and shows that you’re paying attention, whereas little to no eye contact makes you look bad and sometimes even send the other a wrong message (i.e: people might think you’re untrustworthy or that you dislike them) or just straight out shows that you have no personality or that you aren’t very smart!

2. Too much eye contact

There is only one thing that is worse than a lack of eye contact: Too much eye contact!

The key is to always make eye contact but break it briefly before bringing your eyes back to the person’s eyes again. Staring intensely into someone’s eyes will give them the impression that you’re aggressive and overbearing. The point is to connect with that person and make them respect you, not dominate them or make them feel nervous and uncomfortable as you speak.

1.Fidgeting

If it’s your habit to fidget all the time, you may want to work on getting rid of it!

While fidgeting can’t be helped in stressful situations, it is still a terrible habit, especially in professional situations. Shifting in your place, twirling your hair, tapping your feet or fingers, checking your phone or watch during a conversation are all forms of fidgeting that you should consider letting go of.
